Happy 150th to Canada!

July 1st, 2017 is the 150th birthday of Canada as a nation and the celebrations that the Canadian government has invested almost half a billion dollars on. The celebrations will include several music venues and live televised fireworks and concerts. Canada is still a fairly new country to it's settlers, but has been here thousands of years to the First Nations and Indigenous peoples of Canada.

Canada is one of the world's most highly rated countries but it's still not perfect. Much of our lifestyle has been at the expense of it's Indigenous peoples and the Canadian history reflects this poorly. It's up to us to change the history of Canada rather than ignore it. It's time for change and time for Canadians to wake up to the true history of Canada. We are so poorly educated in Canada's true history but call ourselves patriotic Canadians.

The real beauty of Canada lies in it's the people whom have shared their wealth with us and at who's expense we are living upon. Canadians would be better served to spend the next 150 years to make Canada a place of equality and acknowledge our misdeeds so that we can move forward together.

All of us at BOOYA want to wish a Happy Birthday to Canada and THANK YOU to the truly beautiful indigenous peoples who love this land more than us! What makes Canada beautiful is it's people!
